Happiness after eating disorder recovery is possible!

Home

Are you feeling good about your eating disorder recovery, but something is still missing?

  • You’re good with food

  • You have few if any eating disorder thoughts

  • Your friends and family are proud of how well you’re doing

But…

Maybe that’s not the entire story.

Yes, you’ve got a pretty good handle on your eating disorder symptoms and life is more or less going according to plan.

Yet, there’s this nagging feeling that there’s got be something more to life than just working on recovery.

Isn’t life supposed to be enjoyable?

Didn’t you work so hard in treatment for the promise of a good life?

Do you feel like now you’re just settling for the absence of an eating disorder, rather than the emergence of a real life?

You know that hard work in therapy means you need to push beyond your comfort zone.

It got you here and now you want more!

This is great because you deserve to live a happy, rewarding, fun life - especially after all you’ve been through.

The food battles you’ve won and tasted the reward of a peaceful meal are so worth it and you know on some level that you can have that feeling in other areas of life too...just how do you get there?

Turning points or transitions from one phase of life to another are often the catalyst for change.

Maybe that’s what you’re looking for?

You might even experience one of these now:

  • Post eating disorder treatment funk

  • Pregnancy and all of the anxieties it brings vs. the excitement and joy you’re “supposed” to feel

  • Worry about causing your kids to have an eating disorder

  • Body judgments and criticisms

  • Over exercise, over work, over focusing on food

  • Overly healthy eating or Orthorexia

  • How to create a healthy relationship with your body and food beyond the eating disorder

You might have taken a break from therapy after treatment or you might be looking for a therapist at the beginning of your recovery.

What if you're at the beginning of recovery and you want to start off on the path of health right from the beginning all the way to eating disorder freedom?

I do that too. In fact I love working with people who are at the beginning and seeing you through to the end of the eating disorder.

If you're at the beginning of your journey, we can develop a plan with the focus on your current needs, how to sustain the changes you make in the middle part of therapy and finally, how to live your life free from the eating disorder, body image issues and to develop a relationship with yourself and your body focused on your health, wellness and feeling great!

It’s great to work with a therapist who can help you through the entire recovery process.

Therapy with me isn’t just about getting rid of the symptoms and developing coping skills, although that’s important and when needed we’ll work on it, it’s about transformational change.

Getting through the initial stages of an eating disorder is a lot about learning new coping skills.

Moving beyond the eating disorder is about becoming more self-aware and then taking action for your own health and wellness to create the life you want and need to live.

We'll work on reducing any depression, anxiety, family relationship disappointment or conflict too.

You'll learn new skills to support yourself through sadness, grief, nervousness, and relationship conflicts-family, friendships or work.

You'll increase your awareness and learn skills that stay with you throughout your life and simply make things better!

It’s an active process of becoming who you need to be for your own happiness and fulfillment.

We’ll work together to figure out what’s most important and make a plan to get there!
